On July 6th, 2025, the Belgian pigeon sport once again witnessed greatness in motion. From a total of 4,689 pigeons, one single bird rose above them all BE24-6163002, better known as “Mr Great Wall”. Bred and raced by the talented duo Alicia Cleirbaut & Goovaerts, this pigeon stormed to 1st place with a top velocity of 1321.8647 m/min over a distance of 663.532 km. A world-class performance!

Reeuwijk, June 28, 2025 – What unfolded this past Saturday in Section 5 was nothing short of extraordinary. With a massive 9,138 pigeons released under ideal conditions, one fancier dominated like never before: Comb. van Leeuwen & Son from Reeuwijk. There are Saturdays when everything comes together – experience, strategy, preparation, and sheer quality. June 28th, 2025, was one of those days. The father-son duo RA Bakker & Son – Dolf and Ruud Bakker – delivered one of the most dominant victories of the season on the National Middle Distance race from Pont Saint Maxence.

On Friday, June 27th, 2025, all eyes were on the second international ZLU race from Agen. A massive 10,835 pigeons were released at 7:30 AM under perfect conditions: clear skies, light winds, and 20°C. And when the dust settled, one name reigned supreme…

Bas Strijbosch and Wout Spierings — known together as Strijbosch-Spierings — delivered one of the most impressive performances of the 2025 season. On the NPO race from Toury (28 June) they didn’t just win… they crushed the competition with a sensational 1st and 2nd prize against 2,764 pigeons!

Saturday, June 21st, 2025. A date that deserves a special place in the annals of European pigeon racing. While thousands of fanciers were watching the skies in anticipation, something remarkable was unfolding in the city of ’s-Hertogenbosch. On two completely different races — one short distance and one day-long test of endurance — Team van Oss proved why they are no ordinary loft, but a rising powerhouse in Dutch pigeon racing.

The first international marathon of 2025 delivered fireworks. And no one shone brighter than Jan Grootoonk from Bant, who claimed 1st National Pau with his brilliant hen FLEUR — a petite powerhouse with pedigree, performance and purpose.

Once again, Richard van den Bos from Stad aan ’t Haringvliet makes headlines in Dutch pigeon racing. On June 21, 2025, during the demanding race from Lamotte-Beuvron (487 km) against 4,381 pigeons in Afdeling 5, his cock NL23-9287637 stormed home first with a velocity of 1302.411 m/min — claiming the 1st prize! What followed was a masterclass in team performance and consistency.

Saturday, June 14, 2025 – A historic day in the world of marathon pigeon racing. From the iconic South French release point St. Vincent Tyrosse, 1,107 pigeons took flight in Afdeling 8, facing 1,135 kilometers of challenging terrain, warm temperatures, and a northwest breeze.

Once again, Gino Clicque of Wevelgem writes his name in the history books. On June 16th, 2025, his incredible pigeon BE.23-3010465, better known as “ Golden Medard”, claimed 1st National Cahors against a field of 5,226 old birds. Covering the 712-kilometer course at a speed of 1,144 meters per minute, this wasn’t just a race — it was a statement.

On Saturday, June 14th, 2025, the Dutch pigeon sport witnessed yet another masterclass performance. In a challenging mid-distance race from Brienne La Vieille (358.857 km), released at 06:45 under warm and mildly overcast skies, it was Team vd Pasch that once again rose above the competition.

There are races. And then there’s St. Vincent — the Queen’s Race. A race that doesn’t just crown winners, but immortalizes legacies. On Sunday, June 15th, 2025, the Dutch pigeon sport witnessed a defining moment. Against 10,263 of the toughest marathon pigeons in the land, it was Comb. de Jong who soared above them all. With only four pigeons entered, he conquered the most prestigious race of the season with a brilliant hen bred in co-partnership with Mike Dijk.

The first morning liberation of the ZLU season is always something special... PAU – the classic among classics – marks the beginning of the long-distance season that many fanciers prepare for months in advance.
