Saturday, June 14, 2025 – A historic day in the world of marathon pigeon racing. From the iconic South French release point St. Vincent Tyrosse, 1,107 pigeons took flight in Afdeling 8, facing 1,135 kilometers of challenging terrain, warm temperatures, and a northwest breeze.
But at the finish line, one name soared above them all: Arjan Beens from Genemuiden.
Clocking in his hen NL.21-1526912 at a phenomenal 1,024.942 m/min, Arjan claimed 1st prize with total mastery. A performance that didn’t just win the race – it reasserted his place as a living legend in the sport.
💥 Top Performance, Deep Team Strength
Flying with 27 pigeons, Arjan scored an incredible 15 prize cards, achieving a 55.5% strike rate. That alone is impressive – but his team’s depth and quality truly stood out:
-
🥇 1st prize – NL21-1526912
-
🥉 3rd prize – NL21-1526662
-
And further: 152nd, 160th, 161st, 181st, 191st, 246th, 250th, 266th, 269th, 284th, 297th, 305th, and 331st
His pigeons were everywhere in the result sheet – from the very top to deep in the prizes. A masterclass in form, condition, and system.
👑 The Return of a Titan
To understand this moment, we must look back.
In the early 2010s, Genemuiden became the epicenter of long-distance dominance, all thanks to Arjan Beens. With revolutionary methods and extraordinary pigeons, he did the unthinkable on extreme distances:
-
🥇 1st National Perpignan ZLU
-
🥇🥈🥉🟫 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th National Bergerac
-
🏅 2x Winner of the International Golden Pigeon for Extreme Long Distance (2011 & 2013)
Who could forget that surreal night, when Arjan clocked three pigeons simultaneously at 1 AM, all under artificial light? The next day, they would be crowned 1st, 2nd and 3rd National. An hour later, he clocked his 4th bird – 4th National.
Those weren’t just wins. They were seismic events that redefined what was possible in the sport.
🕊️ A Pause, Not a Goodbye
In 2014, after years of pushing the limits, Arjan stepped away. The decision was personal: more time for his three young children, more room to breathe.
But the fire never went out.
Since 2016, he quietly rebuilt his team from the ground up. Slowly, patiently, meticulously. The result? A new generation of racers that are now making headlines – again.
This St. Vincent Tyrosse victory is not a comeback. It’s a statement: Arjan Beens is back – and he’s still leading the way.

🔥 A System that Changed the Sport
Arjan doesn’t talk much about himself – but ask him about his pigeons, and you’ll see the passion burn. He speaks with conviction about his system, his faith in the birds, and those precious 10 weeks a year when everything must click.
He doesn’t chase fame. Yet his legacy is impossible to ignore.
His methods inspired countless fanciers — even the biggest names in the sport. His birds have gone on to win across Europe and beyond. The super breeder “MG430”, father of the 1st National Barcelona 2020 for Jellema, comes straight from Arjan’s loft — from the pairing of Mr. Beautiful x Olympic Miss Gijsje.
🙌 Arjan Beens: A Living Legend & Global Ambassador of the Marathon Sport
In a world of shortcuts and quick wins, Arjan Beens stands for something else: dedication, trust, and total commitment to excellence. He is not only a winner – he is a torchbearer for the future of extreme distance racing.
His return is not just exciting – it’s inspiring.
