🧬 NL.23-2314866 Bred for NPO Greatness

The winning pigeon NL23-2314866 descends from a rock-solid racing dynasty built on NPO excellence. His sire is a direct son of “Wolfman”, the superstar who won 1st NPO Montluçon for Strijbosch-Spierings in 2020 and has since become a foundation breeder in their loft. On the dam’s side, the pedigree gets even more exciting: through “Prince Jens” — a top performer with multiple leading results — we arrive at the renowned “Argenton”, a son of Prince Jens, who secured top prizes on races like Melun and Argenton. Add in power names like “DCH Frankie” and the iconic Belgian hen “Eenoog” (1st NPO Argenton), and it's clear: this cock isn't just fast — he was genetically destined to dominate. His Toury 2025 victory? Just the beginning.

Two Champions, One Mission: United Since 2015

The story of this powerhouse combination began in 2015, when two proven champions joined forces to create something extraordinary. “Stronger Together” isn’t just their motto — it’s their formula for success.

🏆 Wout Spierings – The NPO Maestro

A living legend in the Netherlands, Wout has collected NPO victories and national titles like others collect trophies. In 2004 he became National Champion Young Birds, had the best young bird of the Netherlands in 2002 and 2004, and famously won 1st & 2nd National Le Mans against 12,884 pigeons — ranking 5th & 6th nationally against 120,000 birds!

His star performers include:

  • Golden Prince (NL17-3728901):
1st NPO Châteauroux, 3x Top 10 NPO, crowned Best Day-Fond Bird of the region and 4th National Ace Pigeon WHZB/TBOTB.

  • New Prince (NL18-3816237):
1st National La Souterraine (11,959 birds), 2nd Best Day-Fond Bird PIPA Ranking 2019, and 3rd FCI World Best Pigeon 2019.

💡 Bas Strijbosch – Young Bird Genius

Bas made waves in the late ‘90s as a teenage sensation. In 1996, at just 20 years old, he became 1st Champion Young Birds in the South Netherlands with over 10,000 members. He topped regional rankings for three consecutive years and had the two best young birds of the department, setting record-low coefficients still unmatched.

Building a Winning Machine in Tilburg

Their joint loft in Tilburg is now home to one of the most balanced and dangerous racing teams in the Netherlands. Built around their own champion bloodlines and enhanced by key introductions from Stickers-Donckers, Hans Broeders, Frans Maris, Gert-Jan de Hoogh, and Cyriel & Carl Lambrechts, this colony was made to win.

Their highlight so far? A smashing 1st NPO Montluçon against 5,604 pigeons in 2020. Until now — because Toury 2025 might just top that.

No Luck, Just Pure Class

With 15 prize cards out of 27 pigeons entered, and the 1st and 2nd prize among nearly 3,000 birds, this result proves again: top results are no accident. This is the product of decades of experience, teamwork, sharp eyes for breeding, and complete dedication to the sport.

The Top 10: A Who’s Who of South Dutch Pigeon Sport

While Strijbosch-Spierings stole the show, the rest of the top 10 reads like a leaderboard of elite fanciers:

  • Comb. in ’t Groen (Kaatsheuvel) takes a strong 3rd

  • Team de Hoogh shows consistency with top prizes at 4, 11, 12, 27, and more

  • Other notable names include H. van Dongen, C. & F. Nulle, M. Oostvogels, Colijn Ganus Fox, Team de Weerd, and A. Snoeren — all fliers who delivered brilliant results, yet were overshadowed on this day by the Tilburg titans.

Tilburg on Top!

Strijbosch-Spierings have delivered a masterclass in modern pigeon racing. This was not just a victory — it was a statement. One that echoes far beyond the borders of Afdeling 2. One that says: we are here, we are ready, and we are aiming for national glory.

Until the next blog,
