The Race from Lorris

On 6 September 2025, Afd. 3 set free 2501 pigeons from Lorris at 09.00 for a distance of 464.868 kilometers. Conditions were steady, and the deciding factor became sheer loft quality. At 14.33.45 Team GPS Elshout stopped the clock, securing 1st place with a velocity of 1392.865 meters per minute. They didn’t just win — they dominated. The first four arrivals in the result sheet all bore the GPS signature, locking down positions 1 through 4. That is not luck, that is mastery.

  • Distance: 464.868 km

  • Release: 09.00

  • Total entry: 2501 pigeons

  • Winning speed: 1392.865 m/min

  • Winner: NL 5-1381910, Team GPS Elshout

The Winner? “De Jan” – NL 25-1381910 M (bred by Jan Hooymans)

Meet “De Jan” (NL 25-1381910 M), a young cock bred by Jan Hooymans and raced by Team GPS. From the very first races he made his mark in style:

  • 1st Nat. Sector 1 Lorris – 4,650 pigeons

  • 1st NPO Grand Prix Sens Afd. 3 – 2,689 pigeons

  • 2nd Provincial Laon – 4,889 pigeons

  • Plus multiple early prizes right into the top 25 Provincial rankings

Pedigree strength:

  • Sire: NL 22-8560939 “Son Blue Brave” – direct son of the legendary “Blue Brave” (NL 13-1383352), a multiple winner and proven foundation breeder.

  • Dam: NL 22-8560431 “Daughter New Harry” – direct daughter of the world-famous “New Harry” (NL 14-1219811), Olympiad-winning blood.

This is the golden cross: Blue Brave × New Harry.
And “De Jan” proves the heritage from day one. With such top results at a young age, NL 25-1381910 M is destined not only to shine in the races but also to become a future cornerstone breeder at Team GPS.

Team GPS — A Structure Built on Excellence

The name Team GPS stands for a powerhouse combination around Lex de Jongh, supported by Bernard, Roland and William. Together they have forged a loft that breathes quality. Their breeding loft is stacked with the very best bloodlines the modern pigeon sport has to offer: originals from Jan Hooymans, Gerard Koopman, Hans & Evert Jan Eijerkamp, Embregts-Theunis, J. & F. Hendriks, Bakker Pigeons, Mevr. Snellen & Zn., C. Janssen & Zn. and more. Only the cream of the crop is allowed in Elshout — and the results prove it.
They only started racing old birds in 2023. By 2024, Team GPS had already climbed into the absolute elite with a storm of top-10 results.

2024 — An Explosion of Results

In their very first year with the old birds, Team GPS wrote history. Just a few highlights:
Chimay (192 km) vs. 16,639 pigeons: 1–2–3–4–5–7–8
Dizy le Gros (241 km) vs. 15,389 pigeons: 7–8–9
Issoudun (574 km) vs. 1,683 pigeons: 1–2–5–6–7–8
Nanteuil (330 km) vs. 2,741 pigeons: 1–3–7
Sens (411 km) vs. 7,101 pigeons: 1
In 2024 alone they were in the top 10 of Afd. Oost-Brabant no less than 39 times.
Provincially they lifted 4 x 1st, 5 x 2nd, 3 x 3rd, 3 x 4th, 5 x 5th, 3 x 6th, 6 x 7th, 7 x 8th, 1 x 9th and 2 x 10th.

2025 — Confirmation at the Highest Level

This year they simply continued where they left off. Performances like:

  • Mettet – 13,781 pigeons: 28–29–30–43–44–93–95–97–99

  • Dizy le Gros – 14,426 pigeons: 20–34–51–70–73–75

  • Nanteuil – 11,781 pigeons: 5–6–8–16–18–19–33–62–77–86–92

  • Issoudun NPO – 1,842 pigeons: 4–6–7–8–12–15–20–29–30–38–41–44–45–60–61–92

The pattern is unmistakable: depth, consistency and domination across distances.

Lorris 2025 — A Masterpiece

Back to Lorris. Team GPS entered 87 pigeons, and 79 of them scored prizes. That is a prize percentage of 90.8. Even more telling: the 1st nominated pigeon was the very one that arrived first. That is vision, that is insight, and that is proof of a system that works to perfection.

Their first four positions in the result sheet left the competition gasping. Behind them, Comb. van Wanrooij from Geffen followed with 5th to 10th place, creating a true titanic clash at the top.
