The race from Orleans on August 3, 2025, was one for the books. At exactly 08:00, 484 pigeons were released into the sky, tasked with covering a distance of just over 500 kilometers as quickly as possible. Weather conditions were favorable – stable and ideal for a sharp and competitive showdown in Region 7.

And what a race it became. The winning bird clocked an astonishing velocity of 1469.866 m/min – and who else but Team Hooymans NL claimed this outstanding victory?

Team Hooymans NL – Ruthless and Relentless

What’s happening in Wijk en Aalburg is nothing short of extraordinary. Team Hooymans NL didn’t just win the race – they dominated it with a power and consistency rarely seen. And we at The Pigeon Boss don’t say that lightly.

🕊️ Birds entered: 35
🥇 Prizes won: 26
🔥 Prize percentage: 74%
🎯 Top 10 positions: 6 (taking 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 9th!)

The first prize was won by pigeon NL23-39407946, who raced home over 504.972 km in just 13:43:33. What followed? An avalanche of speed, as Team Hooymans' second, third, and fourth birds stormed in with speeds all above 1450 m/min.

This was not a lucky shot – this was a masterclass in competitive pigeon racing. A loft that combines elite breeding with flawless care, management, and motivation.

📜 A Pedigree to Drool Over

The pedigree of the winning pigeon, NL23-9407946 “Son Olymp.Sp.Boy”, reveals a powerful blend of world-class genetics from the international pigeon sport elite.

On his father’s side, he descends directly from the legendary “Olympic Special Boy” of Team Hooymans NL – 3rd Olympic Acebird with top performances on Issoudun, Morlincourt, and Pont Max. His sire, “Strong Trilboy”, is a proven breeder from the C. v.d. Wetering line with multiple national top rankings, while the dam is “Sister Harry 512”, a full sister to the iconic “Harry” and herself a 6x National Top 10 performer. Pure Hooymans power.

On the dam’s side, we find “Janne” from Team van Oss – herself a 1st Provincial Ace Young Bird with a string of national highlights.

Her father “Dicky” has bred multiple top birds for Section 7, and her mother “Nationaaltje” is a daughter of the famous “Son Wondere Dirk” (Team GPS) and “Gdtr Olympiade 003” from Leo Heremans’ golden bloodline.

In short: “Son Olymp.Sp.Boy” is built on a foundation of Olympic pigeons, national winners, and elite breeders. A pedigree that screams quality – rooted in the very best of both Dutch and Belgian racing lines.

Analysis: Absolute Overkill

With 26 prizes from 35 birds, Team Hooymans NL didn’t just win – they crushed the competition. Their dominance wasn’t limited to first place. A total of 11 birds in the top 20 shows a level of loft depth that only the very best can boast.

And let’s talk speed: nearly 1470 m/min, which translates to nearly 88 km/h average flight speed. In pigeon racing terms? These birds tore through the skies like a self-made storm toward Wijk en Aalburg.

To top it off, Team Hooymans NL also claimed 1st place in the Grootmeester ranking with 544.974 points, leaving the runner-up far behind. This is not just a win – it’s a statement.
