On Saturday, August 3rd, 726 pigeons from Afdeling 2 were released in Orléans, France, for what turned out to be a spectacular mid-distance race. Liberation took place at 08:00, under excellent weather conditions. Clear skies, good visibility, and a gentle tailwind gave the birds an ideal shot at high speeds.

The fastest bird of the day clocked in at 13:16:11 over a distance of 467.698 km, achieving a stunning speed of 1479.200 m/min. The victory was undeniable – clean, efficient, and dominant.

And the man behind that win? None other than Corne van Rijen from Hoeven.

🌟 All Eyes on the Winner: Corne van Rijen

Corne van Rijen delivered an absolute masterclass in this Orleans race. With 15 pigeons entered and 8 prize cards won, he achieved a sharp 53.3% prize percentage.

But more importantly, he won the 1st prize — and did so with a pigeon that simply flew away from the competition.
His victory bird reached 1479.200 m/min, securing the fastest arrival in the entire race. And Corne didn’t stop there. His second and third arrivals landed on spot 33 and 39, followed by a cascade of prize cards: positions 72, 83, 106, 107, and 236.
This isn’t just a one-bird win. This is a loft in top form!
