🔄 From restart to revenge

Hannes was once forced to hit pause — taking over the family business meant the 2023 colony was largely sold, and 2024 saw almost no racing. But the fire kept burning.

In 2025, he returned with a bang — and he didn’t come alone.

🛠️ Painter by trade, pigeon boss by heart

Hannes runs a 4th-generation family painting business by day, and by night he is all pigeons. In December, he bred 260 youngsters. Training is relentless: 15 to 20 tosses per team before the first race, mostly done in the late afternoon hours after work.

Both for breeding and racing season, Kobe brings elite-level expertise to the loft. A check-up before the season, and throughout the year Hannes also performs his own microscopic analysis post-race — disinfecting only when needed.

Hannes is quick to thank his loyal loft caretaker Daniel De Roock, who ensures the daily routines and care are top notch — even when Hannes is busy with the company. Together, they form a winning team with vision, passion, and drive.

📜 From Noyon to Barcelona

The roots of Hannes’ passion go back to 2004, when his neighbor Nestor De Saedeleer gifted him a round of youngsters — several of which became 1st prize winners on Noyon. That spark became a fire.

He invested smartly in pigeons from Eric Limbourg, Astère Vergotte, and Marc Vanonckelen, evolving from speed to middle and even long-distance ambitions. He even won 8th local Barcelona in 2021.
