Father and son duo from Terneuzen continue their reign as legends of Dutch one-day long distance racing.
On Sunday, June 8, 2025, the skies above Vivonne, France opened for a thrilling one-day long distance pigeon race. A total of 1,681 pigeons were released at 08:00 AM, facing a challenging course of 606 kilometers with a steady southwest wind.
And once again, it was the unbeatable combination of Gebr. Scheele from Terneuzen who stole the show. Their top hen, NL22-2207203, raced home at a stunning speed of 1,351.798 m/min, arriving at 15:28:21 — clinching a clear and dominant 1st place victory.
Don’t Be Fooled by the Name — It’s Father and Son Excellence
While their name may suggest two brothers, the legendary “Gebr. Scheele” actually refers to the renowned father and son team of Adriaan and Jaap Scheele. Together, they have been a dominant force in Dutch pigeon racing for decades — particularly on the one-day long distance races.
Their record speaks for itself:
- 🏆 7x Champion of the Golden Division of Fondclub Zuid Nederland in just 10 years
- 🥇 2017: 1st NPO wins on Limoges and La Souterraine
- 🚀 2018: No fewer than 5 NPO/provincial victories
- 🐦 2019: “Rico” and “Pink” dominated the national scene with multiple Top 10 ace-pigeon rankings
- 💣 2020: “Drum”, “Adriaan”, and “Roos” scored 3 NPO/provincial victories
This is not a loft that gets lucky — this is a dynasty built on knowledge, passion, and consistency.
Masterclass from the Champions: 13 out of 20 in the Prizes!
The 1st place was just the tip of the iceberg.
Gebr. Scheele delivered a world-class loft result with:
