1st Reims against 15,526 Pigeons
On this challenging race from Reims, Henk Scheffel from Elburg once again proved why he ranks among the elite in Dutch pigeon racing. His pigeon NL24-8603196 stormed home with a phenomenal speed of 1156.671 m/min over a distance of 377.769 km, securing 1st prize in Afdeling 8. But that was just the beginning of an overwhelming performance.
With 52 pigeons entered and 45 in the prizes, including 13x top 300 and 7x top 100, it was a demonstration of power rarely seen. Top results at 1st, 28th, 30th, 56th, 69th, 96th, 99th, 135th, 156th, 220th, 222nd, and multiple placements between 256th and 258th made this a historic result.
Year After Year: Scheffel = Success
For those who follow Henk Scheffel, this is no surprise. Year after year, he dominates the short-distance races. With numerous championship titles and regular appearances on national teletext leaderboards, his reputation only grows stronger. The simplicity with which he achieves success is astonishing.
His consistent results are no coincidence. They are the product of a carefully developed and perfected breeding line – a family of pigeons built for performance. And this line isn't just effective on speed and middle-distance races... it now proves itself on the One-Day Long Distance (Eendaagse Fond) stage as well.
New Goals, New Triumphs
In 2022, Henk made a bold move. After years of competing for the overall championship titles in his region, he decided to embrace a new challenge: the One-Day Long Distance. Not to simply participate – but to compete with and beat the very best specialists in the Netherlands.
The result? A resounding success.
Even at these longer distances, his pigeons showcased the same level of class and power, once again confirming that Scheffel pigeons are built for victory.
The Power of 'Bendner'
At the heart of Henk's success is the legendary breeder 'Bendner', now recognized as one of the greatest international breeding icons of modern pigeon sport.
His descendants include:
- ✨ Jacob (top breeder)
- ✨ Bastiaan
- ✨ New Bendner
- ✨ The Last Son
- ✨ Benate
... and many others who regularly perform at the highest levels. The 'Scheffel pigeon' has rapidly gained global popularity, thanks to the ease with which they dominate competitive races.
Who Has Better?
A question often whispered in lofts and clubhouses across the Netherlands:
WHO : HAS : THEM : BETTER? Truthfully? The answer is clear.
