Today, the two live next door, still sharing their passion and pooling their expertise.The Bakhuis family began with exceptional bloodlines from AP Overwater, Wim & Mart Derksen, and Comb. Verweij-de Haan (including the renowned “MILOS” line). But what truly catapulted Robin to international fame was the discovery of his golden breeding pair: De Wiersma x Daughter Mr. Gijs.

The foundation of Robin's unparalleled success lies in De Wiersma, a pigeon from E. Wiersma & Zn. This incredible bird proved his mettle by winning 3rd National Perigueux (7,102 pigeons) and 28th National Bergerac (6,000 pigeons) with daring nighttime arrivals. De Wiersma’s performances earned him the title of 12th National Ace Pigeon NPO Marathon, making him an obvious candidate for the breeding loft.
Paired with Daughter Mr. Gijs, a direct descendant of the famous Olympic Miss Gijsje from Arjan Beens, the result was pure magic. Olympic Miss Gijsje’s line has already produced world-class pigeons, including winners of National and International Barcelona, Narbonne, and Agen. Together, De Wiersma and Daughter Mr. Gijs have created offspring that are rewriting the rules of marathon racing.
