On June 16th, 2025, his incredible pigeon BE.23-3010465, better known as “ Golden Medard”, claimed 1st National Cahors against a field of 5,226 old birds. Covering the 712-kilometer course at a speed of 1,144 meters per minute, this wasn’t just a race — it was a statement.
In the fast-paced world of modern pigeon racing, precision is everything. One thousandth of a second can be the difference between first and forgotten. On Saturday, June 14th, 2025, the Dutch pigeon sport witnessed yet another masterclass performance. In a challenging mid-distance race from Brienne La Vieille (358.857 km), released at 06:45 under warm and mildly overcast skies, it was Team vd Pasch that once again rose above the competition.
There are races. And then there’s St. Vincent — the Queen’s Race. A race that doesn’t just crown winners, but immortalizes legacies. On Sunday, June 15th, 2025, the Dutch pigeon sport witnessed a defining moment. Against 10,263 of the toughest marathon pigeons in the land, it was Comb. de Jong who soared above them all. With only four pigeons entered, he conquered the most prestigious race of the season with a brilliant hen bred in co-partnership with Mike Dijk.
The first morning liberation of the ZLU season is always something special... PAU – the classic among classics – marks the beginning of the long-distance season that many fanciers prepare for months in advance. In 2025, we’re ready once again, and with 11,906 pigeons entered, we’re set for another heroic challenge heading north!
On June 8th, 2025, 2,258 pigeons were released at 3:00 PM in Ruffec, France, for a challenging NPO long-distance race in Afdeling 11 (Friesland). Clear skies, warm conditions, and a light north wind set the stage for an overnight battle of stamina and orientation. And true to form, it was Jan Grootoonk from Bant who stole the spotlight again.
